Looking Good !!!!! A phrase heard, and used commonly throughout the 70's, thanks to one individual, our subject for this episode - Freddie Prinze. No, not Freddie Prinze Jr. instead we look at his father, and his meteoric rise to fame at age 18, only to lose everything, by his own hand at the tender age of 22.

We look at his television film 'Million Dollar Rip Off', the 1979 biopic on him 'Can You Hear the Laughter', and of course, we look at the role of Chico Rodriguez in 'Chico and the Man', the show which catapulted him to fame in 1974.

Henchman: The Al Leong story

Let the truth be told, we here at the Midnight movie Cowboys LOVE Al Leong. Al who you ask? You may not know his name, but we promise you, you will know his face.

Anyway, John alerted us to a documentary currently in production Henchman: The Al Leong story. Not one to let an opportunity to pass us by, we hit up the Producer / Director of this epic project, Matt Olivo. A cool ass guy, with a lot of great stories about Al. 

Here is the finished result of that conversation we had a few nights back. 

Throughout the course of Matt's documentary on Al Leong, we will be catching up with him every so often to see how things are progressing. The picture below says it all.

Anchorman 2

Here we are folks, as promised at the end of our CRASH CINEMA episode, we said once ANCHORMAN 2 was released, we'd have our guest, the Armenian madman, and staunch Obama supporter (hehe) Garo Nigoghossian, back on.... and we do !!!

After 9 long years, a fake twitter account that sent Hollywood abuzz with rumours of a sequel, and a whole lot of anticipation. We finally got to see ANCHORMAN 2. 

So, you're asking yourself, what did we think of it? Well, you will need to listen on and see what all of us, including Garo's one black friend thought of it.

In typical Midnight Movie Cowboys ADD style of podcasting, we can't just stick to a review of the film, so the last 30 mins spirals into some light-hearted, unbiased, political chat (trust us, its not the boring old type of political chat you're accustomed to)

The main topic is the recent crack-up among the staff of Rupert Pupkins at Fangoria, involving plagiarism, backstabbing, and how there is a little bit of that Pupkin guy in all of us.

Oz-Ploination Episode 2 - Moving Out

Bye Gino. 

2 words that sparked a catch-cry in Melbourne in the early 80's (and still get's used from time to time by some folks). In this episode, Stu, along with the help of Rob, discuss the 1983 independent film Moving Out.

We also take a look at the parallels of the cultural diversity in the film against our own background (more so Rob being of a strong European one).

In this episode, the Midnight Movie Cowboys take a look at master of Italian Horror, Mario Bava, and in particular, one of his seminal pieces of work - KILL, BABY, KILL (1966).

Oz-Ploination Episode 1 - The Club

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie - Oi, Oi, Oi !!!! Hey all, Stuart here with my side project Oz-Ploination that I am doing during my absence from the MMC (I will be back with my podcasting cohorts in a few months, promise) However, in the meantime, I will be doing this mini series, along with the help of an old friend of mine, Robert Butina, joining me, we look, and appreciate all things in Australian films (predominantly from the 70's and 80's).

First film off the rank, is one of the seminal comedies of our time, from 1980, it's THE CLUB.

Rob and I talk not only about the film, but our many encounters at football games we have gone to over the last quarter of a century, and the state of football these days as we know it, there are some stories in there I can promise you.

Please note: I have started using new equipment, and this episode was the first time I have ever used it for a podcast. I didn't quite get the settings right, but I will get there.

The Ghost Still Walks

What drums say? New...Midnight..Movie..Cowboys...episode...where..we..talk..about ...Phantom.

Stu and John (Hunter is absent on this episode) discuss all things of the Ghost who walks. His foray onto the big screen via a Columbia serial in the 40's, to his big budget adventure in the 90's, to a new type of Phantom on the small screen in the 2000's.

We also try to get to the bottom of how did The Phantom become such a cultural phenomenon in Australia back in the 80's and remains one to the present day.

The Halloween Experiment

Yeeeaaahhh, here is one from the vault.... sort of. All the way back in August 2010, 2 guys, Hunter and Stu, decided to start a podcast. It was to be called Midnight Movie Cowboys. 

What you have here is the very first ever recording of the MMC.

Now, this episode has been available before - only as a hard to find, site only download - but has never been available on the feed - until now.

Anyway, for the first ever MMC recording, we decided to do a commentary on Rob Zombie's (yes our old sparring partner) questionable re-imagining of HALLOWEEN. Here is how it all started, and how it went down.

I wanna beat him !! These are the  infamous words, uttered by a young Lou Ferrigno, in a film we hold in a high regard - Pumping Iron. 7 Grandmasters... With A Side Bowl of Kung Fu

Long hair, crazy as fuck beards, no, we are not talking about Alan Moore, we are in fact talking about a Taiwanese film from 1978 - 7 Grandmasters. A film that falls in between the cracks of 'other' Kung Fu films, that are generally known by the masses, but one we feel is important to the genre. So sit back as we 3 discuss this little seen gem, along with our thoughts on some other Kung Fu flicks, just for good measure. Enjoy.

Ok, this is interesting. You know the term "Something old is something new"? Well, that is definitely the case with this episode. Goes like this. This was recorded, all the way back in March 2012. It was done as Stu had gone on hiatus, after his wife had had their 5th kid. Hunter was asked to "carry on as usual" with other guests. Unfortunately, just after this was recorded, the then Memphis wing of the MMC recording suites, went haywire and crapped itself - hence, no other shows were recorded in Stu's absence.
