World of Drunken Master [1979]
Saturday Mar 26, 2022
Saturday Mar 26, 2022
Hey gang, we're back with a new episode. On this one Stu and John are joined by the mysterious Frank Blackman (who agreed to show only part of his face) to talk the 1979 Joseph Kuo film World of Drunken Master. An obvious knock off of the Jackie Chan smash hit from the year earlier, this one is a much more comical approach to the style of Drunken Master, but, is it as good as the mighty 7 Grandmasters? Listen on and find out.

Carry On Cowboy
Sunday Feb 27, 2022
Sunday Feb 27, 2022
Hey friends, after nearly a month absence (sorry fam, it's been hectic AF at MMC headquarters) we're back with our second episode for 2022.
On this one, Hunter, John and Stu cover, for the first time ever, in our nearly 12 year history, a Carry On film. A series loved by 2 of us, and completely foreign territory to another. We look at what is considered one of the premiere Carry On films in the (very lengthy) series.
Again, we apologise for the absence. We have a slew of episodes in the can and recorded, so we will be back to our regular weekly schedule. Thanks for sticking with us.
Cheers

NB: No 'Rue Britannia' segment this week, or possibly the next few weeks. Technical difficulties at the MMC UK branch. Hopefully back sooner rather than later.

The Great Rock ’N’ Roll Swindle [1980]
Wednesday Feb 02, 2022
Wednesday Feb 02, 2022
We are back for our first episode of 2022. On this one, we discuss the mockumentary film , the Sex Pistols 'The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle. Publicly despised by Johnny Rotten, and dismissed by the rest of the Sex Pistols, we look at the (mostly) fictional telling of the Sex Pistols story, through their notorious manager Malcolm McLaren.
Masterfully directed by legendary filmmaker Julien Temple, this film is an oddity, and a must watch, even for non Pistols fans, if not for for its visuals, and the very limited footage available of Sid Vicious.
It's an obnoxious, bawdy and shocking tale, but one that must be seen. Thanks for sticking with us in the off period, we are back at normal transmission.
Cheers

Hey gang, a special surprise for you all. A few weeks back, the MMC were guests on the most excellent Watch This Movie podcast, we discussed Die Hard 2, our favourite Christmas films, oh and we managed to shoe horn in a bunch of tangents.
It all makes for 2 hours and 40 minutes of great banter with Eric and Wolfie (2 really cool guys who you have heard here before)
Now while Christmas may be over, doesn't mean you cannot still enjoy this. Sit back and enjoy.

Tuesday Dec 14, 2021
Hey friends, back with a new episode. On this one, Hunter and John discuss the 1975 Strayan action flick - The Man from Hong Kong. Starring the blink-and-you'll-miss-him-James-Bond George Lazenby, and the impossibly difficult Jimmy Wang Yu, directed by Leprechaun 3 master filmmaker Brian Trenchard-Smith.
The lads talk about Wang Yu, a lot about BT-S, and lament what would have been for the ex car salesman turned one time James Bond actor Lazenby.
Enjoy this 'un folks.

Hey fam, back with a new one. On this episode, the three of us look at the little known, but absolutely dynamic Dustin Hoffman film from 1978 - Straight Time.
Featuring a knockout performance by Hoffman, (one of his best) along with a string of more than noteworthy other cast performances. This is one definitely worth checking out.
As usual, we have our Whip out your junk and Rue, Brittania segments. We are also on Youtube if you want to watch this episode, and see us in all our glory.

Thursday Nov 18, 2021
Hey friends, we're back with a new episode, and on this one, we are joined by Eric Zaldivar and special guest author Chris Pogialli, to discuss the rarely seen film from 1977 - The Farmer.
It's an interesting discussion about a wildly violent film, that has yet to ever receive a home video release on any format (that we are aware of anyway).
We want to thank Chris and Eric for joining us on this one. The new segments are here also - Whip out your Junk and Rue, Britannia.

Whip out your Junk
Friday Nov 12, 2021
Friday Nov 12, 2021
Hey friends, we're back with a new episode, and a new format. Whilst you are listening to this on your usual streaming haunts, you can now watch this very episode on youtube. Yes, that's right, what you are hearing, you can actually watch Hunter, John and Stu recording it.
Anyway, on this episode, we whip out our junk, not like that!! No, we show you our purchases over the last month. Why do this type of episode you ask? Well, this will be a new weekly feature we will be doing, whilst this is a full length version of it, from here on in, it'll be a mini segment on the MMC, this is just a primer for what to expect.
Speaking of new segments. We also have a new segment. Rue, Britannia. Our weekly British news and general musings, from the desk of none other than the man himself Anthony Nesbitt AKA The Nes.
We are very excited about this new leap we are taking - but fear not - the audio version you are accustomed will always be available too, it's just that now, we have added another element - video.
Anyway, enjoy, link to the youtube version is HERE. Head on over there, like and subscribe to show the MMC some love.

The Psycho Sequels
Sunday Oct 31, 2021
Sunday Oct 31, 2021
Hey friends, this week we finish off our Horror month. The MMC are joined by Eric Zaldivar, jumping back in on Mother's rocking chair, to look at the Psycho Sequels.
We don't cover the original Psycho at all (albeit a brief 2 minute discussion on it), but we do go in depth about Psycho II, III and IV.
So, how do these sequels stack up, against the granddaddy of all horror films? well, you may just be surprised at our opinions. We also throw in tidbits of knowledge about the making of these films.
Please note, there are NO tangents on this episode whatsoever. We do have tangents, but they are not on this episode, instead you can find them as seperate pieces on our Soundcloud page (bet you didn't know we had one of those did you hmm?)
You go to our Soundcloud page HERE to listen to the tangents (and some others we have posted years ago)
Having said all that, make yourself some tea, pop on your Periwinkle Blue dress and wig, and listen on with us.

We are joined by Mulder and Wolfie to look at two films from 1980, both starring Jamie Lee Curtis (even if she is completely off her face throughout them)
This is a very lengthy episode, with quite a few tangents (we couldn't help ourselves) and a lot of laughs, good times with these guys, our paths will cross again. Thanks fellas for being on with us.
So grab your favourite snacks and beverage and listen on with us, we'll be back to complete Horror month on the MMC here on Halloween.

Tuesday Oct 19, 2021
Hey friends, horror month continues on the MMC, and this week we take a look at the little independent film, that dares to ask - Was Max Schreck REALLY a vampire? Producer Nicolas Cage, actors John Malkovich and Willem Dafoe, along with out there filmmaker E. Elias Merhige pose this question in Shadow of the Vampire.
As to be expected, this episode DOES have talk about the film... but there are tangents in between, you know the drill.
Back next week with a massive episode, including our 2 friends from the always excellent Watch This Movie podcast. For now though, enjoy this 'un

Mary Shelley‘s Frankenstein
Tuesday Oct 12, 2021
Tuesday Oct 12, 2021
This week, we're examining Kenneth Branagh's adaptation of Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein." Branagh's done some highbrow kino in the past, but this one isn't too well remembered. Is it a misunderstood movie? A rightfully scorned piece of cinema? An excuse for Branagh to run around and throw levers with his shirt off? All this, and more will be revealed.

Friday Sep 03, 2021
Hey friends, So, we had an idea for a show, then realised it maybe wasn't going to fill up a great deal of time, and we'd have to tangent a bit to give one of our full length episodes, so we decided to go back to the well (AKA the easy way out) and continue with our (very popular) All Filler, No Killer series.
So, yeah, it's all about the tangents, rants and discussions about anything that comes to mind. What's in this one? Well we discuss..... nah screw it, listen on, and find out for yourself. There's plenty of things covered in this one.

Friday Aug 20, 2021
Hey friends, we're back with a new episode for this week. On this one, Stu, John, Eric Zaldivar and.... omg, the return of the Armenian madman Garo Nigoghossian, discuss the cult favorite - Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man.
On it's 30th anniversary, we discuss if this film still holds up (despite it's initial panning from critics) and how it compares to other buddy films of that era.
As usual, when Garo is on, it can - and does get a bit raunchy, so as is to be expected, this episode is NSFW.

Saturday Aug 14, 2021
Saturday Aug 14, 2021
Heeeey pond scum. What's up fam? This week Hunter, John, Stu and Eric Zaldivar look at what is arguably the best in the Death Wish film series - Death Wish 4: The Crackdown. Perhaps the fact that this film isn't filled with vile rape scenes from Michael Winner (he thankfully didn't direct this one) leads us to gravitate to claiming this to be the most enjoyable Death Wish film.
Not a very long episode this one, very few (if any) tangents, just straight up Bronson talk.
See ya next week.
Enjoy.

Wednesday Jul 21, 2021
Hey friends, well, you wanted it, you got it. The MMC rants and tangents seem to be a huge hit with listeners (it baffles the three of us but whatever) so we decided to do All Filler, No Killer Part II.
On this one, we just sit down and talk about a bunch of stuff. Tom Cruise, Satanism, Electric Light Orchestra and Bruce Lees' Cocaine Ring being but some of the things we discuss. Sound like fun? Then listen on, these types of conversations can only be done as the MMC do them.
The All Filler, No Killer episodes will be what we label future tangent episodes, we'll try and do one every 6-8 weeks, sometimes it's good to ditch the film review and just talk (and it's something we can do with but little notice).

MMC Horror Sequel Vs. [Vol.1] - Friday the 13th Part 2 Vs A Nightmare on Elm Street 2
Wednesday Jul 14, 2021
Wednesday Jul 14, 2021
Hey friends, we're back with a new episode, and its into the 80's slasher arena we go. No John on this one, so whenever that happens (which is very rare) Stu and Hunter cannot resist covering a horror movie... or two.
On this one, we decided to pit 2 horror sequels, of very famous franchises, against each other. 2 films that were the second in the series, and both rushed out a year after their first films, became a huge hit.
Is it possible that both films aren't quite the film that their original counterparts are? Or, heaven forbid, they could even be better than the original? To find out what we think, you'll need to listen, and find out.

Hey fam, we're back with a new episode, well John is, and oh my god, look which lazy turd has finally decided to resurface? Stu is finally back.
On this episode Stu and John look at the 1984 pastel wonder that is the Miami Vice Pilot film (AKA Brothers Keeper Parts 1 & 2)
We talk, the film, the actors and yeah man... the colors.
Apologies from Stu for this one, he's scratchy, rusty and tired AF after a long nights work the night before, and little sleep (super manager Winston Humphrey has scolded him for this, and assures us it won't happen again mon)
So sit back, and enjoy the 80's all over again, with this Miami Vice review.
All 3 MMC hosts are back next episode, where we delve into some more Michael Mann television.
